I want to share a bit of the heart behind the SAGE Program with you.
A huge part of my life and of the SAGE Mindset is the spiritual piece, I believe this component of your life is vital to your success in answering the 3 key questions and living a fulfilled life.
What are those three questions?
- Where am I?
- Where do I need to go?
- How do I get there?
In order to fully answer these questions, we have to think outside of just work, home, and our relationships, to go deeper and into the spiritual aspect of our lives.
Whether you believe in the God of the Bible or in a higher power of some kind, focusing on something besides our own strength is key to the SAGE Mindset.
To answer the question “Where am I?” we need to have the self-awareness to determine where we are. Then we need clarity around the vision for our life to know where we want to go. Finally, a clear plan for how we are going to get there.
As I’ve attempted to answer these questions in my life, I’ve found the greatest success comes when I realize I’m on a lifelong journey to answering these questions. And if I don’t ask the author of my life how to get there, I’m probably going to mess it up. But I can’t be in a hurry either…
An Enduring Belief
As I think about this I would like to use an analogy to explain the power of enduring faith 0r belief. Our faith, as many have heard before, is not a sprint but a marathon.
Running a marathon requires endurance and perseverance, focus, right perspective, and support in order to finish strong. Our faith is much like a marathon, requiring each of these pieces in order to live out our faith and to endure through the many challenges we face in this life. Fortunately, God is with us through it all.
Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith.
How Can We Run This Marathon?
Run with focused perseverance.
Run with perseverance through what God has set before us.
Watch those that go before us, their faith and actions encourage us.
Continue to run even though we stumble and face many difficulties.
The things that hinder us don’t always have to be sin. (Comfort, stuff, our own thinking.)
Run as YOU were meant to run.
Focus on God, what he did for you and is doing for you. He shapes us as we run our race.
Run with a FOCUSED perspective.
Mistakes cloud our perspective but… run even when you are struggling. This means you are in the race.
He is FAITHFUL in the struggles. This is when God desires that we draw near.
Run during times of failure.
God disciplines those he loves, to spur us on, to endure.
Run knowing that God accepts you and loves.
Run with focused faith
Focus on God’s UNCONDITIONAL Love.
Run with the knowledge that God is helping you.
Focus on running strong in the power of his might.
Be encouraged, we are not meant to run this race alone.
Run with others in mind. My race is impacting others, for good or bad.Run to encourage others. Run to help others run their race.
The world will tell us to STOP running it’s too hard, everyone else has finished, they have completed the race and we are not making any progress in our race.
But our race is not finished yet, “let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith.”
To your growth and empowerment in your race!
